Classroom Teachers (Lead/Associate Positions)
Job Summary: This is a full-time position as a classroom teacher, with responsibility for developing curriculum as well as planning and implementing lessons; creating a supportive and intellectual learning environment; and communicating with parents as partners in the process of helping students to develop and fulfill their academic and personal potential.
Our Campuses: Brawerman Elementary School is a Reform Jewish day school with two campuses. The original West campus was founded in 1999 in a modern facility located in West Los Angeles. The East campus opened in fall 2011 in the heart of L.A.’s Koreatown, in the historic Wilshire Boulevard Temple. We are a tight-knit community with a high level of collaboration among the faculty and an active parent body. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- With input and guidance from current faculty and administrators, develop Social Studies, literacy, and other curriculum
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction that provides purposeful, active, and engaging learning experiences
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons encouraging collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
- Differentiate instruction as necessary to meet the needs of all students
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Maintain an organized, welcoming classroom environment conducive to student learning
- Use technology to support instruction
- Use appropriate classroom management strategies so that boundaries are clear and students feel comfortable and able to learn
- Collaborate with other faculty on school-wide curriculum, programming, and events
- Show professionalism
- Grow and develop professionally
Required Qualifications:
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of the state
- Multiple subject teaching credential/State certification
- Relevant teaching experience
- Knowledge of relevant technology
- Flexible thinker
- Team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable (not required) Qualifications:
- Experience using Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, Everyday Mathematics, Responsive Classroom, and Daily Five
- Background in Special Education and/or Gifted and Talented Instruction

Assistant Classroom Teacher
Job Summary: This is a full-time position as an assistant teacher with responsibility for working with classroom teachers in developing curriculum as well as planning and implementing lessons; creating a supportive and intellectual learning environment; and supporting classroom teachers in meeting the needs of all students.

Judaic Coordinator and Educator

School Judaic Coordinator and Educator

Our Jewish Studies program provides an ethics based education that empowers students to lovingly embrace joyful and reflective Jewish learning and living.
Job Summary: The role of the Judaic Coordinator and Educator is a faculty position with partial administrative work. The Judaic Coordinator will organize, plan, and establish a progressive and integrated K-6 Judaics program. This is a 60% time position which may increase to full-time as the school grows. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in the implementation of a Judaics program that piques student engagement and expands beyond the four walls of the school.

Reporting to: Brawerman Elementary School Principal
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Design all aspects of the Jewish Studies Curriculum based on trends in Reform Jewish education, current research, and best practices in progressive education

Lead and coordinate Modeh Ani, Havdalah, Shabbat, and other spiritual moments through music and song
-
Supervise and support faculty with Judaic integration
-
Research and design all Judaic learning materials in collaboration with Judaic Studies faculty, and aligned with Wilshire Boulevard Temple
-
Teach and coordinate Limmud (Judaic Studies), Beit Midrash blocks, and weekly T’filah (Prayer) experiences integrating Jewish values and alternative methods of prayer

Update scope and sequence at each grade level and facilitate curriculum mapping with grade level teachers

Conduct parent and teacher education programs

Communicate accomplishments in all areas of the curriculum to parents and WBT staff (newsletter, website, etc.)

Cultivate opportunities for collaboration between BES, WBT Clergy, and WBT Nursery School

Coordinate holiday celebrations with parent committee and BES faculty

Coordinate trope program for Grades 5 & 6

Connect students to Israel through music, prayer, and classroom learning experiences
Minimum Qualifications:

Robust background in Jewish education and Hebrew language

Charismatic presence in front of students, parents, and faculty

Creative, artistic, and imaginative curriculum and lesson designer

Strong interpersonal and relational skills
