Washed Ashore: Plastics, Sea Life and Art
Ms. Coffield shot the following clip on a recent trip to the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, California. The clip is muted and intended to highlight the detail of the fish sculpture named, "Henry," from which students drew inspiration for their own projects. The clip is best viewed in full screen and the password is "technologyb".
"Wonder at 15 extraordinary marine life sculptures with trashy origins! Tons of plastic pollution is used to create monumental sculptures that are awakening the hearts and minds of citizens to the marine debris crisis. Every action you make in your life has an effect. Even small actions make a positive difference. People working together can create results."
Please take a look at the work that students created from virtual pieces of trash that were collected from our highly polluted waters. These masterpieces should remind us of the fragility of our marine life and make us pause before we waste.
